Question by coupedefleur: How do I keep spammers from posting links & files in my groups?
I run several groups. New members are automatically put on moderated status until they do an on-topic post, and this seems to keep the spammers from posting.
BUT apparently the system lets someone post links and enter files, even when they are on moderated status. Is there a way to fix this? It seems to be a big hole in the system, and my group members get tired of seeing the sex stuff showing up in the links!

Change your Group Membership to "Restricted". This way, new members will have to give a reason "Why" they want to join your Group. (be aware of those that reply "love the lists" or just "Hi"). You will have an idea if those members are truly interested in your group, or if they are spammers by the way they respond as to their reason for joining.
Once you approve a new member, whether they are moderated or not, it will not prevent them from posting links or files. You will still have to make sure that there are no inappropriate links or files posted to your group should a spammer be so clever as to pose as a legitimate member.
At least the above allows you more safeguards for your group.
